{"id":20952,"date":"2025-09-24T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-09-23T23:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ripplesuicideprevention.com\/uncategorised\/the-west-ham-foundation-ripple-tournament-raises-funds-for-suicide-prevention-and-mental-health\/"},"modified":"2026-09-03T16:31:13","modified_gmt":"2026-09-03T15:31:13","slug":"the-west-ham-foundation-ripple-tournament-raises-funds-for-suicide-prevention-and-mental-health","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ripplesuicideprevention.com\/en\/blog\/articles\/the-west-ham-foundation-ripple-tournament-raises-funds-for-suicide-prevention-and-mental-health\/","title":{"rendered":"The West Ham Foundation &#038; Ripple Tournament Raises Funds for Suicide Prevention and Mental Health"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p id=\"\"><strong id=\"\">On 18 September, football, community and powerful causes came together at The Foundry, as Ripple and the West Ham United Foundation hosted our second annual five-a-side charity tournament.<\/strong><\/p><p id=\"\"><strong id=\"\">In partnership with Shawbrook Bank, Hampshire Trust Bank, and West Ham United FC, the day united players and supporters on and off the pitch to champion mental health and suicide prevention.<br><\/strong><\/p><h3 id=\"\">A tournament with purpose<\/h3><p id=\"\">The charity tournament welcomed 20 teams and over 170 participants to the Foundation's new home at The Foundry for a day filled with excitement, sportsmanship, and open dialogue about mental health and suicide prevention. <\/p><p id=\"\">The energy on the pitch, the incredible atmosphere, and the enormous corporate and community support made the day truly special for everyone involved.<\/p><p id=\"\">Together, more than <strong id=\"\">\u00a330,000 was raised<\/strong> to support the work of Ripple Suicide Prevention Charity and the West Ham United Foundation.<br>\u200d<\/p><h3 id=\"\">Celebrating our champions<\/h3><p id=\"\">The tournament showcased talent and spirit across all competitions:<\/p><ul id=\"\"><li id=\"\">\u200d<strong id=\"\">Men\u2019s Cup \u2013 Allica Bank<\/strong><\/li><li id=\"\"><strong id=\"\">Women\u2019s Cup \u2013 Fieldfisher<\/strong>\u200d<\/li><li id=\"\">Plate \u2013 TSA Riley<\/li><li id=\"\">Bowl \u2013 Shawbrook 1<\/li><li id=\"\">Spoon \u2013 AWH<\/li><\/ul><p id=\"\">Individual awards went to:<\/p><ul id=\"\"><li id=\"\">Player of the Tournament \u2013 Abraham (Shawbrook 1)<\/li><li id=\"\">Top Goalkeeper \u2013 Teddy (AWH)<\/li><li id=\"\">Top Goalscorer \u2013 Georgia (Fieldfisher)<\/li><\/ul><figure id=\"\" class=\"w-richtext-figure-type-image w-richtext-align-fullwidth\" style=\"max-width:6240px\" data-rt-type=\"image\" data-rt-align=\"fullwidth\" data-rt-max-width=\"6240px\"><div id=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"\" alt=\"__wf_reserved_inherit\" src=\"https:\/\/ripplesuicideprevention.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/691f320c68bbbe07bbdb2fb9_68d3b04d98e13685f608ecec_Field20Fisher20Women27s20Winners-min-scaled.jpeg\" width=\"auto\" height=\"auto\" loading=\"auto\"><\/div><figcaption id=\"\">Alice Hendy MBE,&nbsp;Women's Cup winner Fieldfisher, Mark Hedley, Joseph Lyons<\/figcaption><\/figure><h3 id=\"\">Breaking down barriers through sport<\/h3><p id=\"\">\u201cIn four-and-a-half years, 32 people have told us they are still here today because Ripple intervened at their moment of crisis,\u201d revealed Ripple Founder and CEO, <strong id=\"\">Alice Hendy MBE<\/strong>. \u201cOne of those individuals was actually playing in today\u2019s tournament, which shows just how powerful this technologycan be.\u201d<\/p><p id=\"\">West Ham United Foundation CEO <strong id=\"\">Joseph Lyons<\/strong>, delighted to host the first football tournament at The Foundry, emphasised football\u2019s power to spark difficult conversations and highlighted the preventative mental health work carried out by the Club\u2019s official charity.<\/p><p id=\"\">\u201cSeeing the Foundry come to life with a tournament like this makes me incredibly proud,\u201d said Lyons. \u201cThe work Ripple does, and the work our Foundation staff do around mentoring and detached youth work, are slightly different but deeply complementary.<\/p><p id=\"\">\u201cAs a football club, we have a unique power, using sport to engage, with coaches who are also trained to spot the signs and support young people. Events like this wouldn\u2019t happen without partners like Shawbrook Bankand and HTB, who take their social responsibilities seriously and help us give back to the causes we care about.\u201d<\/p><p id=\"\">Former West Ham and England striker <strong id=\"\">Carlton Cole<\/strong>, now an Ambassador for the Foundation, was among those lending his support. <\/p><p id=\"\">\"It's just good to be here and see all these guys enjoying football, and doing it for the right causes as well,\" Cole said. \"I've had experiences in my life when I've been really low. Talking to someone is massive, it puts things into perspective, but I understand that some people don't have that strength, and that's where love and support become so important.<\/p><p id=\"\">\"When I had my kids, even when I wasn\u2019t going through the best of times, I knew I had to be there for them. Your life is always worth it. In football, we talk about resilience and masculinity, but now empathy is becoming more important.
