{"id":20728,"date":"2023-09-19T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2023-09-18T23:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ripplesuicideprevention.com\/uncategorised\/ribble-valley-mp-gives-backing-to-mental-health-campaign\/"},"modified":"2026-09-03T16:35:27","modified_gmt":"2026-09-03T15:35:27","slug":"ribble-valley-mp-gives-backing-to-mental-health-campaign","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ripplesuicideprevention.com\/en\/news\/in-the-media\/ribble-valley-mp-gives-backing-to-mental-health-campaign\/","title":{"rendered":"Ribble Valley MP Gives Backing to Mental Health Campaign"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p id=\"\">As published in <a id=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk\/news\/23796348.ribble-valley-mp-backs-campaign-get-talking-mental-health\/\" target=\"_blank\">Lancashire Telegraph<\/a><\/p><h5 id=\"\"><a id=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk\/news\/23796348.ribble-valley-mp-backs-campaign-get-talking-mental-health\/\" target=\"_blank\">\u200d<\/a><br>The Ribble Valley MP Nigel Evans is encouraging East Lancashire people to open up about their mental health.<\/h5><p id=\"\">His move follows National Suicide Prevention Week which finished on Saturday.<\/p><p id=\"\">This year it coincided with the launch of a new national strategy aimed at significantly reducing England\u2019s suicide rate.<\/p><p id=\"\">House of Commons deputy speaker Mr Evans met with representatives from charities, not-for-profit organisations and businesses in Westminster last week to discuss what is being done to help prevent suicide and support those in need.<\/p><p id=\"\">One of those charities, Ripple Suicide Prevention, works with tech companies to intervene and intercept harmful searches (whilst maintaining user privacy), signposting to free and confidential 24\/7 mental health support services.<\/p><p id=\"\">Anyone can install their software which is free to use and proven to help break negative thought patterns.<\/p><figure id=\"\" class=\"w-richtext-figure-type-image w-richtext-align-fullwidth\" style=\"max-width:768px\" data-rt-type=\"image\" data-rt-align=\"fullwidth\" data-rt-max-width=\"768px\"><div id=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/ripplesuicideprevention.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/6842c9d3aefd1748c5dbe30c_650997f38095272d77145f65_Alice20Hendy20and20Nigel20Evans20MP.jpeg\" width=\"auto\" height=\"auto\" loading=\"auto\"><\/div><figcaption id=\"\">Alice hendy and Nigel Evans Mp<\/figcaption><\/figure><p id=\"\">Mr Evans also met with representatives from Jacobs who have developed a free online mental health check-in tool aimed at the engineering and construction sector.<\/p><p id=\"\">He said: <em id=\"\">\u201cSuicide is something which has touched so many lives, yet something which many people are still so afraid to speak about.
